NDA 2016: Eligibility, Application form, Preparation tips, Result and Cutoffs

The UPSC has released the official notification for NDA Exam II 2016 which is going to be held on 18th September 2016. NDA is an all India level entrance examination for recruiting candidates to the Indian Navy, Indian Army, and Indian Air Force which forms Indian Defence force. The NDA examination conducts the written examination two times in a year i.e. NDA (I) and NDA (II). A Candidate may download their application form online from its official website. The eligible candidates can fill their online application form from 18 June 2016 to 15 July 2016.  This post will offer you all the details on the exam such as eligibility, application form fee, important dates, results, and answer keys etc. Read this article carefully before applying.

  • Online registration date:18 June 2016
  • Last date for registration: 15th July 2016 till 11.59 p.m.
  • Date of Examination:  18th September 2016
  • Issue of admit card: Three weeks prior to the exam
  •  Last date for Payment of fee
    • Through Offline: 14th July 2016 till 11.59 p.m.
    • Through Online: 15th July 2016 till 11.59 p.m.

NDA exam II 2016 Eligibility Criteria

Norm 1: Nationality:

  • Candidates, applying for exam, must be:

A citizen of India

A subject of Bhutan

A subject of Nepal

A migrated person of Indian origin from Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East African countries of Kenya, Zambia, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam and now permanently settled in India.

Norm 2: Educational Qualification:

Indian Army

  • The candidates must have passed or appearing class 12thfrom any recognized board or institution of higher education.

Air force and Indian Navy

  • The candidates must have passed or appearing class 12thwith physics and Mathematics from any recognized board or institution of higher education.

Norm 3: Age limit:

  • The candidatesmust be aged between 17 to 20 years i.e. born before 2nd January 1998 and not later than 1st July 2001 are eligible.

Norm 4: Marital Status

  • Only bachelor male candidates are eligible for the exam.

Norm 5: Physical Standards:

  • The Candidates must be physically sound according to physical standards as per guidelines given in the Gazette of India.

  • Total seats in National Defense Academy – 355 seats
  • For Army – 208 seats
  • For Navy – 55 seats
  • For Air Force – 92 seats

NDA exam II 2016 Application Form:

As UPSC has released Application form on their official website and these are to be filled Online started from 18 June 2016 to 15th July 2016 till 11.59 p.m. Once the link is disabled no candidate can fill the form.

Steps to fill the online application form:

  • First step is to visit the official website.
  • Then follow the link of online NDA Exam II Application form 2016.
  • Click on the Part I Registration.
  • The candidate should read all the instructions carefully and after satisfying the given norms click on the yes button at the end of the page.
  • Fill the online application form with required factual and genuine details.
  • Submit the form and then after submission, a unique registration ID gets generated, keep it safe.
  • Then click on the Part II Registration and log in with the given generated Registration ID.
  • Pay the application fee through the Bank DD/Challan/Cash/Net banking.
  • Then carefully fill all other necessary details and choose the examination center and the medium.
  • Then upload Scanned Signature and Photograph according to the provided instructions.
  • Recheck all the entries that you have filled before the final submission of application form.
  • Last step is to take the hard copy (printout) of the application form and keep it safe for future use.

Application Fee:

  • General/OBC – Rs. 100/-
  • SC/ST – No fee

NDA exam II 2016 Admit Card

Candidates who have successfully deposited the online application form along with the requisite fee for the exam has been issued an e-admit card. The eligible candidates issued an NDA Exam II Admit Card 2016 before 3 weeks of commencement of the examination i.e. mid of August. The e-Admission Certificate will be available for downloading on UPSC official website.  The applicants are required to give their active mail id at the time of online form filling as the UPSC may contact them by using electronic mode. The candidates may also note that the Admit card will be not sent by post.

NDA exam II 2016 Exam Pattern

Before appearing in the exam, it is quite important for the students to go through the NDA Exam II Exam Pattern 2016. It comprises of the essential details such as a number of questions, time duration, marking scheme etc. find the details here.

The exam is conducted in two parts:

Mathematics (code-01)

General Ability (code-02)

Mathematics:  The Mathematics section contains 120 multiple choice questions of 300 marks.

  • Questions are based on the syllabus of 11th and 12th
  • The time allotted to write the paper is 2 hrs 30 min.

General Ability: This part is divided into two sections-

  • Section A is of English and carries 200 marks.
  • Section B is of general knowledge and carries 400 marks.
  • The time allotted to write these sections is 2 hrs 30 min.

Note: This exam contains a negative marking for the wrong answers.

SSB interview

Further the candidates will be selected for SSB interview on the basis of their score in the written test. Then after clearing all the rounds in the interview successfully, the final merit list is prepared and the selection is done after the document verification including medical process.

Hard work is the only key to achieve the desired goal so the candidates who want to crack the the exam need to do hard work. Here are some tips to help you prepare for the entrance examination:

  • For NDA  Exam II Preparation Tips 2016, the candidate has to plan a schedule for their preparation and accordingly divide the time for both papers.

NDA exam II 2016 Answer Key

  • With the help of answer key, candidates can analyze their score and predict their chances to crack the exam.
  • After one to two weeks of the exam, the candidates will be able to view the answer for their own question papers as the official answer key will be released on their official website by the UPSC.

NDA exam II Cutoff 2016:

Anyone with a score below the cut-off score is usually rejected. The cutoff is just the minimum score required to qualify the exam by the candidate. The NDA Exam II Cutoff 2016 is decided by the examination body decide the cutoff score of the exam after evaluating certain factors such as difficulty level of exam, a number of candidates appeared in the exam and so on.

NDA exam II 2016 – Result


The result has been declared on 11 November 2016. It is available in the pdf format which the students can easily download. The NDS 2016 Result comprises of the roll numbers of the qualified candidates. The mark sheet of the candidates will be put on the commissioner’s website within 15 days from the date of the result publication and will remain on the website for a period of 30 days. The qualified candidates will be then called for the final interview round based on which the final selection will be made.
